Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.
Edit:

Even though I don't think she actually ment anything by this comment, I hope enough people finally tell her that enough is enough. She was mathematically disqualified like three months ago and I can't for the life of me figure out why she is still running. She really is just dividing the democratic party. She needs to just step out as gracefully as possible so that Democrats can unite behind one nominee.

fides quarens intellectum

On a serious note, i really am concerned that some idiot will actually try to kill Obama if he's elected this Fall. There are way too many ultra-patriotic people in this country that don't appreciate his high-brow, intellectual, postmodern, almost anti-Americanism.

Your concern is legitimate, and Mrs. Clinton comments are extremely irresponsible.

My husband and I were discussing about the possibility that Obama might have someone take a shot at him. The Secret Service will admit that if someone is willing to lose their life in the process, there's little they can do to prevent an assassination. I spent 43 years in the US South. There's still a lot of racism there, even if we don't want to admit it.

Most of the comments expressed here mirror my own thoughts. It's crossed my mind some nutjob might take a shot at him, but it's not something you come out and say when you're running against him, even if you don't mean it badly.

As for racism in the South, I know what you mean CatherineM. My grandmother voted for Edwards because she didn't want a black man or a woman. My Resident Assistant didn't vote, because he refused to vote for a C-word, or an N-word.

Ash Wednesday

I read an article some time shortly after Super Tuesday where some Democrat advisor noted that trying to get Hillary Clinton to concede will be like trying to kill Dracula.

It would take a pretty big oak stake, and even then, I think Bill would jump in front of it.

Nah, he would probably love to be rid of her. Then he can sleep with as many interns as he wants, guilt free!

...well, maybe he has that now....

Bill wouldn't jump in front of a stake to save Hillary, but Hillary would for Bill. She's a nobody without her husband.

Ever notice the most liberal among us always build careers off of others and never do they achieve anything themselves? What has Hillary ever done? Barrack Obama is nothing more than a black man running for the White House, and what did Bill Clinton do again that was ultimately his doing (other than interns of course)?

The best thing Obama can do to prevent an assasination attempt is to make Billary the vice-president.

That would guarantee an attempt on his life.

And the most conservative. Case in point: George W.
