If missing Mass on Sunday is a mortal sin, and people wouldn't go to Mass on Thursday, then moving it to Sunday helps people avoid mortal sin. Granted it should be observed on Thursday. But think, people are sinning less, which makes Jesus happy! :)

The people who take Sunday obligation seriously would take any Holy Day obligation seriously. I don't think your argument is very strong.

Actually I believe that's the reasoning behind it...[/quote]

Helping people to avoid mortal sin?

Last I checked, Corpus Christ is not even a Holy Day of Obligation. So technically, if it wasn't moved to Sunday it still wouldn't be a sin if one weren't to participate. Not implying that one should miss Corpus Christi, just that we aren't morally bound to attend that Mass if it was on a Thursday.
