Thomas
In my area it's Pop. In fact, I think it's 'Pop' in all of Canada. I've really never heard 'Soda Pop' or 'Soda' except in movies from the 1950's.

Colleen
oh please! it's SODA! it says so RIGHT ON THE CAN! pop is just the fizzy sound SODA makes. it's not the actual thing. SODA pop is a wishy-washy way out of the situation. coke is a biased term because it only refers to one brand of SODA. this :pepsi: or : p e p s i : is a can of SODA of the brand "Pepsi"
Thomas Michael
Throughout my lifetime, with my family, it was always referred to as "soda". Must be a Mason-Dixon line thing... :P Edited February 26, 2004 by Thomas Michael

JuCa
Actually, it's all wrong. It's coke. Texas waitress: "Would you like a coke with that?" Yankee Customer: "Sure" (uncomfortable silence) Texas waitress: "Okay, what kind?" Exactly! It's.........COKE!
Thomas Michael
coke is a biased term because it only refers to one brand of SODA. Well, sometimes in some places people just adopt one brand name to describe a certain product, no matter what the actual brand is. Same goes for Kleenex, Q-Tips, Band-Aids, Rollerblades and Jacuzzis.

cathgirl
If you called it coke in the midwest, you'd get exactly that-coke. You see, it is pop, and always will be. :P

homeschoolmom
Growing up in Minnesota, it was pop! When I went to college in Wisconsin, my Milwaulkee friends got me hooked on saying soda (as well as bubbler, but that's a different story). So, even now I say soda... but I am among the few in this area. (Even the thought of a soda is making my tummy growl!!)
