I don't think wondering about the everyday life of Christ will lead me to break away from the Catholic Church, but thank you for your concern.

There is an undeniably important difference between personal wondering about the everyday life of Jesus and consulting heretical and apocryphal texts as if they really have the authority to fill in that void. "He grew in age and wisdom and grace" works fine for me. I don't want any gnostic mumbo jumbo confusing the truth.

BTW, I like your new avatar much better than that creepy old one.

Yeah that's an important difference to make. I don't look to the gnostics as anything more than "food for thought." Of course, what the Catholic Church teaches is ultimately what I believe, so anything that comes into conflict with Church teaching gets the boot; however, I am interested in places where the Bible (and the Church) is silent.

Thanks for the avatar love!

After the Da Vinci Code, that was where I first heard of the Gnostics, Gnosticism lost all interest from me.
