kujo
Technically speaking, I'm a Democratic-Monarcho-Papist with a leniant on Distributism-type economy. We're a rare bread of political allignment, but we have free T-shirts!
Distribution-type economy? Methinks that sounds a bit too much like socialism or communism to me. Both of which are condemned by popes in the past.
LouisvilleFan
I think we all at one time or another are guilty of publicly sinning, but that doesn't stop one from speaking out against abortion. There was a time in my teenage years where I did some things, even in public, that were very sinful, but that never stopped me from speaking out against abortion. Just because one is a sinner it does not disqualify one from speaking out on what is right and what is wrong.
That I understand, but there are some popes whose sins were so numerous and grievous that it must call into question if they privately believed anything the Church teaches. Unchecked political power is a dangerous thing, and if you grant the pope any form of power of some political system, that makes him a little bit more of a politician and less of a shepherd. We left those days behind with the Declaration of Independence.
CatherineM
Unchecked political power is dangerous in the hands of the greedy, un-intelligent, unwise, or soul deprived. I mean they have souls, but they choose to not develop their consciences or their spiritual life.
Thy Geekdom Come
That I understand, but there are some popes whose sins were so numerous and grievous that it must call into question if they privately believed anything the Church teaches.
If they didn't believe anything the Church teaches then that would make them a heretic, and there never has been a heretical pope and there never will be.
