Hi all.

I recently purchased one of these bracelets, and am wondering if there is any special name for them:

The bracelet is made of wood, and they can often be seen with panel images of Our Lady and Lord, along with others of Saints. The bracelets are very popular among Mexicans, at least here in Chicago.

Thanks for the help!

I don't think they have a specific name.

This site just says "Wood Bracelet, with Religious Subjects."

I saw a girl wearing one at school this past semester. I want one :topsy:

Yeah. A lot of my students wear them. Since I teach in public schools, I'm always looking for ways to connect on a religious level with my students in a subversive manner. I figure if they recognize it, they're more likely to ask me about it, and then it's talking faith is fair game in a public school classroom, since they asked.

Hmm. So maybe it's something that is general to Catholicism, and not specific to any culture? I wonder. Anyone who's able to give us the low down on this devotion, where it came from, etc., would be most appreciated. Thanks!

One of the older ladies at church was wearing one last night, and she used to own her own Catholic book store, so I'll bet she may know. I'll ask her on Sunday.

I have heard it referred to as "Saints Bracelet' but that was just on the street. Im not sure of the actual name.

it's made of wood.

they sell it everywhere and it's pretty cheap and easy to get.

I thought they were from Tiffany's and figured it was a Polish thing.

Those are really cool, I'd like one! And no, I do not know the name of them, sorry, I haven't ever seen them before.

They've started to creep into shops over here in the UK. I saw some in the Catholic Truth Society's main bookshop the other day. I didn't know they originated in Latin America.

Cool posts, thanks guys.

I love mine because it's big and colorful, meaning that it catches peoples' attention and is useful for evangelism. :)

What site did you get that picture from? I found one just like it (with the wooden beads between the pictures) but it's the smaller version.
