HisChildForever
I went to Confession this past March for the first time after seven or eight years. Of course I was very nervous and I forgot a lot of what I wanted to confess, but I've heard that if you go with the intent to confess but out of nerves forgot some of your confession, it's okay. Anyway, so lately I've felt really guilty about my past sins - the worst one in particular (no, I've not committed it since) and even though I know it's all been forgiven, I can't get rid of this guilty feeling and this repulsion I have for myself. What does the Church say about this? And, are there any Scripture verses that can comfort me? Should I go back to Confession?
cappie
You could go back to confession and speak to the priest. What you are feeling is not all that unusual. Jeremiah 31:34 34"They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." Isaiah 43:25 25"I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 1:18 18"Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. Isaiah 44:22 22"I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud and your sins like a heavy mist Return to Me, for I have redeemed you."
