Guest Guest
I compared the Old Testament canons defined at Carthage and Trent from the lists I found in the Catholic Encylcopedia: http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/3816.htm http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03267a.htm They match. I then compared it with the OT canon from the New American Bible: http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/index.htm I found all the books from the NAB in the Carthage and Trent canons except for one: Lamentations. Was Lamentations originally considered part of another book in the bible, like how Baruch was part of Jeremiah before being separated (as the Trent canon describes: "Jeremias with Baruch")? Thank you.
BLAZEr
Right. The Lamentations are really "The Lamentations of Jeremiah" The Lamentations are solemn mourning poetry. They were considered a part of the book of Jeremiah until more recent times.
