Is This Heresy?

Last Sunday, during the homily, our priest was talking about how it is important to recognize that women were mentioned alongside the Apostles in prayer after Jesus was taken into Heaven.

(In case you need a refresher, it was the first reading, Acts 1:12-14.)

Now this was not the primary point of his homily but he did give it special attention. Towards the end of the homily, while he did not explicitly say "women should be priests" he [b]did[/b] say "women should be given more authoritative roles in the Church." He was also saying that he believes in equality of the sexes and that the Church should be more modernized in Her thinking - these were not his exact words as I recall but it was implied.

Was he suggesting that he believes women should be priests, and was this heresy for him to suggest it?

While I am no expert in this stuff, I would say that his ambiguity regarding this issue is dangerous and potentially misleading.

Mark my words: WOMEN WILL NEVER BE PRIESTS!!! And MEN WILL NEVER BE NUNS!!!

Exactly. It took me a while to understand this, but as a priest I thought that he would have a better understanding than the average lay person.

You're right. The problem is that we've got priests, religious sisters and laity all clamoring for a change and using their pulpits to argue for it.
