But all I hear from you is negitiveity about McCain, and nothing negitive about Obama. And yes a couple times now I've seen you defend Obama, on what you believe others do not understand but I've not seen you defend McCain maybe I missed it.
Yup, I sometimes forget that kenrockthefirst isn't an Obama supporter.

But, boy the Palin pick changed quite a lot, eh? I actually have an easier time taking McCain at his word now. For one thing, this demonstrates that he, and others in the GOP, have stopped listening to the liberal (I can hardly call them) Republican circle that had been flocking around McCain for the past decade.

Tom Delay isn't griping about the ruin of his own party any more.
Dr. Dobson is now more than happy to pull the lever for McCain.
Many of the people responsible for the more embarrassing moves during the McCain campaign have been removed.

If McCain had wanted nothing more than to appease the fiscal or the social conservatives, or the so-called evangelical wing of the base, he could have picked Romney, Pawlenty, or Huckabee, or many others. If McCain wanted to have a token female on the ticket to boot, he could have taped KB Huchison.

But Palin brings accountability, and outspoken libertarian-leaning conservatism. She is unabashedly pro-life. And she has a history of placing principle ahead of party, career, and all else.

I'll be happily voting Republican this year. And if Palin embodies the future of the GOP, I'll be voting Republican for a while.

You're right but here's my dilemma: I can't vote for more of the debacle that is the war in Iraq; I can't vote for the economic mismanagement that has led to the sub-prime mortgage crisis and the economic black hole that has resulted from it; I can't vote for torture and the continued erosion of our civil liberties; and I can't vote "pro-choice." Dr. Ron Paul, where are you...?
Obama supports planned parenthood and vows to stand for theyre ways. He is also a socialist who would rather demolish our government and way of life. McCain would like to overturn roe v wade and actually loves his country.. I'm voting for McCain, he is the only one we can vote for.
agreed!

EDIT:
He's not that great, but he's better than Obama. By far.

McCain has had experience in the Vietnam War. For this reason I do not mind voting for his Iraq policy.

I don't know much about economics, so I don't mind voting for McCain's economic policies (whatever they are).

McCain was a POW and has a strong anti-torture record. I don't know if you would get a better anti-torture stance by voting Obama.

That is just my two cents.

I know what you mean. And if Bush were running again, I would not be able to vote for him. (And if Ron Paul WAS, he'd totally get my vote.) But... as much as McCain has kinda cozied up to his party in order to get the nomination, historically he has very much been his own man.

No guarantees of course. Anyone can whack out the moment they get into office. But, I think it's a reasonably safe bet that McCain will not continue to pursue wars and torture.

As for the sub-prime mortgage crisis -- the government, and the president, has almost nothing to do with that. That was caused by the folly and greed of the American people, 100%. Sure, I suppose the Fed (which is functionally independent, after the people who run it are appointed) could refuse to do anything to try to help, but then the stock market would completely tank, and the dollar would lose even more of its value.

Doesn't that depend on what you call torture? Where does McCain stand on "enhanced interrogation techniques?"
