Andrea348
I was just thinking about this recently since I'm in the process of moving. I graduated three years ago and I saved all the books from my major and sold back everything else. There are a number of books that are related to my major that I really have no use for. If I were you, I would look at each book instead of just generalizing. If the book has lots of good stuff that you will probably use in the future, keep it. If it is something that could be outdated and not too useful, take the money and run. I wish I had done that. I might end up just recycling some of these books. Autumn Dusk
My theory is that I can buy anything off of E-bay if i REALLY need it, probably for MUCH less than I sold it back for. I have to move alot so keeping even a few textbooks seemed ridiculous to me. Edited May 9, 2008 by Autumn Dusk
the_rev
I guess, I'm going to keep the books that I like. I know next semester I have Catholic Contribution in the United States, and well, I might want to keep those books. I sold back any book that I could this year, (which wasn't many, I have about 10 books still, they only bought 3 books back, I was ticked). That included selling one of my Mass Comm books, which was more of an overview or an introduction which was basic, so I don't think it was necessary to keep that text book. Thanks so far for the advice! In Christ, Ed

IcePrincessKRS
I kept all mine... but my major was literature, so I probably would get more use out of mine than some other people will. A good lit book is always nice to have around.

picchick
I sold all mine... I figured that whatever I need my hospital is going to provide. Also things are constantly changing so I need to sell them now before the put out a new edition. The only books I kept were my diagnosis book and my drug book. It depends though on the book. If you are a philosophy major...you might want to keep your major books. For me though, I sold them. Meg
CatherineM
I kept mine for awhile, but never really used them. Of my college books from 25 years ago, I have one, "Know it and Grow it." It's actually been useful over the years. From theology, I kept quite a few, especially any that I can use for preparing my RCIA lectures. I'd say if you think you might use them again, keep them. If you don't crack them in a year, then sell them.
zwergel88
I keep all of my textbooks. I like to retain a record of all of the subjects that I have mastered. You never get a decent amount for them anyway, so I don't think its worth it to part with them.
EAnn246
I kept all the books from my major (English) and minor (history). I think the only books I sold back were from my first year classes (speech, writing, & intro. to liberal arts edu.), sociology, and biology. My school is horrible at giving back money for books. If the class isn't offered the following semester, they won't give you money back for the book. Plus, I like keeping my books.
prose
I kept my cool ones (Abnormal Psych, Criminology, and some others) and got rid of any that didn't look that great on my shelf.
