FaithFinder
oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) It doesnt surprise me at all! It does terrify me though! I'm 21 and I have a 14 y/o sister. I recently found out she's been fooling around with guys. To top it off most of them are older, like 24 and such. I've tried talking to her but she wont listen. I'm so afraid she's gonna end up with something. She's already told me her friends are trying to get pregnant! I'm appauled by all of this and I'm afraid my sister is going to become just another statistic.... Its so sad. I dont know what else to tell her though... cathgirl
yeah, i go to public school... and there's the whole "Sex is 100% fine, natural, okay, if u use a condom or contraceptives"   Yeah, my friends and I were talking about how stupid that thought is.

~runnergurl~
I couldn't get that one quote to show up but yeah... I'm actually gunna have to agree with that guy. Not because I agree with pre-marital sex in any way, but I just don't know if teens and young adults or whoever can really be convinced into practicing abstinence. Yall know how our society is and how trashy it all can get, so other than converting some teenagers it wouldn't be that effective. If you're saying to teach both abstinence and safe sex then maybe... That didn't make too much sense so deal with it! I've had limited sleep this weekend (off topic- at lifeguarding class, which, if you went into the prayer room I stuck a post up there...and I passed my test! Yay patron saint of American Red Cross!) God bless Janet
frozencell
But the idea of saying, "Well, it's too late for these people so why bother starting abstinence at all?!" is ludicrious. It was too late for some people, but Jesus still died on the cross for the rest of us. Geez. Edited March 1, 2004 by frozencell

Explain to your sister's guys the concept of "jail bait" and statuatory rape.
OwNeD_byGoD
it is sad that 50% of american teens have stds, however the case is getting worse in the fact that now, there are multiple std infections meaning that they combine which is a mutated std and it's harder to fight
frozencell
Next thing you know, "28 Days Later" is going to be redone as a documentary and not a fiction movie. How sad.
FaithFinder
Explain to your sister's guys the concept of "jail bait" and statuatory rape. Unfortunately it seems like several of these guys have already been to jail. One was actually on house arrest. Plus I think she lies about her age. And she definately isnt gonna cough up any last names or phone numbers. She's also sneaky about it. She goes to her moms (we're half sisters we have different moms) b/c her mom will let her do anything and not ask any questions about who when where and what. Our dad would chain her to her bed if he knew. If we were on speaking terms I would tell him. It probably wouldnt matter though. He wouldnt believe me. I just keep praying and hoping... cmotherofpirl
You might want to get on speaking terms with him. Even if he doesn't believe you, you have made the attempt. Is there anybody else she will listen to? Please stick her on the prayer list.
FaithFinder
Cmother.... communication is a 2 way street and as far as my dad goes... his street only goes one way. To put it bluntly, he hates me and cant even stand the sight of me. My attempts at mending the situation have been unproductive to say the least. As for my sister, no there isnt really anyone else she'll listen too. Like I said I just keep praying and hoping. I've tried talking to her but it goes in one ear and out the other. I even had my ex boyfriend talk to her. Nothing really phases her much. Thank you for your concern though. It means a lot to know other people care. MrsFrozen
i do think that that number is a bit inflated. Honestly, I know my junior class pretty well in high school, and i bet not even 50% have sex regularly. (i would say its hight, but not 50% high). so yeah i agree with the dude Unfortunately, it only takes one time, just as it only takes one time for a woman to become pregnant. MrsFrozen
If the number includes those up to age 25, and taking into account those who don't even know they have a disease, then I would say that 50% is, sadly, most likely accurate.
