MissScripture
In the late 50's and early 60's, Catholics in this country were feared and hated and had their own discrimination to deal with. They also gained power from the Kennedy Presidency. There has not been a Catholic in that office since him. I have an issue of Life magazine from when Kennedy was running for office and the headline is about whether the country can allow a Catholic to be President. The article is completely about the country being run from Rome and not the oval office. Could a Catholic be trusted to do what is in the interest of the country or only in the interests of the Vatican. Times have changed, somewhat.
Ironically, at the same time, Archbishop Fulton Sheen was on TV and non-Catholics loved him...

It was funny in a class today, we were doing presentations, and one group was doing first ladies. "My husband had an affair with a movie star" was the prompt, and everyone yelled, "JACKIE KENNEDY!!!" As for the OP...I'm of the school that Bush is not really a Born Again Christian with his evasion of "It was a process". Talk to anyone you know online or offline who is a "Born Again Christian", self included, and they will tell you all about the day, the time, every minute detail. So it would not surprise me, if I am right about him, that when the Fullness of Truth smacked him upside the head from those he surrounds himself with, he would be attracted to it. Many identify a certain moment (or maybe several) along the way, but not all Protestants buy into the "got saved at this specific place and time" deal. Deus te Amat
You said to name one thing not Catholic. So I did. I watched a documentary about Marilyn Monroe, and it said that she had affairs with both President Kennedy, and his brother. John McCain is not Catholic. Again, you said to name one unCatholic thing, not that I mean that it is okay to have an affair if you aren't Catholic... I dont particularly like McCain either. I say the same "unCatholic" thing about those Popes. Man oh Man, I wish that people would stop speaking ill of Jesus then... especially since the ones who speak illy are the ones that say He is dead Edited April 15, 2008 by Deus_te_Amat

And if it did occur how did it effect the other aspects of his presidency. O,and saying Jesus is dead is heresy.
Deus te Amat
I never said that Jesus was dead. I said that the people who speak against Jesus say that He is dead. Therefore speaking "illy of the dead" which you said was uncouth. I thought it was humourous. Don't hate (don't hate, appreciate) the sinner, hate (don't hate, appreciate) the sin. The popes made mistakes. So did JFK. Big deal. You said to name one unCatholic thing that JFK did. I did. Those Popes you speak of did that unCatholic thing too. It doesn't make breaking "thou shall not commit adultery" any less of a mortal sin. Edited April 15, 2008 by Deus_te_Amat
