Anna
Hi Brother Adam, Business is booming, and I'm loving it. I've been pretty busy, and even away from phatmass for quite a bit. (Missed you guys! ) I didn't visit that website, Flowery. I may have visited it in the past, but I knew right from the title that it's just another deceptive tactic used by anti-Catholics. They can't smell of elderberries a Catholic out of the Church with Truth, so they must either use error that appeals to the emotional side, or lies that appeal to the sinful side. It's pride that makes them think they know God better than those who were instructed from the mouth of Christ, whose teachings have been passed down to us over the centuries. That kind of pride just kinda stands out there like a sore thumb, imo. "Just for Catholics" like it's a present or a secret or something really special, "just for us," yeah right! And there's this lovely bridge I own here in New York that I'd be happy to sell to you at a bargain price... :D Pax Christi. <><
EcceNovaFacioOmni
Watch out! JustForCatholics is run by Dr. Joe Mizzi, a Protestant trying to convert Catholics to his religion. He is a former "Catholic" who claims to know all about the faith and why it is "wrong". If you examine his site, you will see that the opposite is true. I have had many debates with him via email and his message board. He is deeply misguided and doesn't allow Catholics to argue on his website. Bottom line: Despite the name, this is NOT a Catholic website. A similar site is Catholic Concerns, so watch out for it too.

Lounge Daddy
Shameless, very shamelessā¦ and sad. I liked your post, Anna. This would be like Phatmass setting up a bogus site called āJustForProtestants.orgā ā but we wouldnāt do that because we donāt need to lie to show someone the truth. The fact that deception is not very Christ-like flushes this websiteās credibility down the toilet.

Dave
What deceptions are you guys talking about? Like some examples I mean. Oh man, where to begin? They say that we worship Mary, that we believe we must earn salvation, that the Eucharist is symbolic, that confession to a priest is unnecessary, that those in heaven can't hear us when we pray, etc. Edited February 23, 2004 by Dave
dairygirl4u2c
They say that we worship Mary, that we believe we must earn salvation, that the Eucharist is symbolic, that confession to a priest is unnecessary, that those in heaven can't hear us when we pray, etc. The issue of Mary isn't really that big. And those in heaven hearing our prayers too. I think as far as earning salvation goes, he may be a little misled. But is right that we don't earn the love and salvation of God that Jesus died for us for. And he is right that we don't earn the forgiveness of God as Catholics believe. We earn the salvation in that we live the will of God. But just because the Catholic Church is right about salvation in the faith/works sense, that doesn't mean it is in the forgiveness sense. The forgiven former seminarian had it right. And the issues of the early church fathers using "real presence" the way he says they did. I like that he's expanding on that. I emailed him and told him he should do more study on church authority and the lineage and actions of the Bishop of Rome. But if you want to argue, these two points would be your best bet cuz everything else seems pale in comparison. Cuz otherwise to me everything makes it seem as if Catholics are just Catholic because either they are ignorant or because they simply choose to be Catholic for the sake of being Catholic and not necesarily for the objective truth. dUSt
And he is right that we don't earn the forgiveness of God as Catholics believe. Where do you get your information? This is an incorrect statement. CuzĀ otherwise to me everything makes it seem as if Catholics are just Catholic because either they are ignorant or because they simply choose to be Catholic for the sake of being Catholic and not necesarily for the objective truth. If I wasn't in search for objective truth, believe me, Catholicism wouldn't be the religion I chose to practice.
