SaintOlaf
There used to be a big rivalry between Detroit and Colorado, mostly surrounding what happened back in 95 between Claude Lemieux and Chris Draper. Very few of the players are left that really participated in that intense rivalry, and most of the ones that are, are too old now
XIX
In 1995, Claude Lemieux was with the New Jersey Devils winning the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe. I think you meant 1996.
SaintOlaf
Yes, my bad... I remember watching the games, didn't remember exactly what year it was
XIX
This first round has been good. Anything can happen. Habs/Bruins in a game 7. Sharks vs. Flames might go to game 7. Two 3 seeds going down. Rangers looking like the best team in the league, besides maybe the Pens. Every Western Conference series going six games at least.

Ash Wednesday
More Patrick Roy gold: The part in his last game at Montreal where, after giving up 9 goals, he raises his arms up in mock celebration (at 8 seconds in this video) as the crowd sarcastically cheered on an easy save just KILLS ME every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-BJOK7zKmo
I remember that game. I called my brother after the game and told him I thought Patrick had played his last game for Montreal - he couldn't believe it but was forced to accept it. Patrick lacked a lot of class when he was playing. I never liked him all that much. He's not even in my top 10 all time goaltenders. George Vezina, Vladamir Tretiak, Ken Dryden, Jacques Plante, dominic Hasek, Martin Brodeur and others are better goaltenders than him in my opinion. Montreal and Boston game seven tonight. May the Rocket go with them!
Ash Wednesday
There are a lot of reasons not to like Roy, and I can see why a lot of people don't. His terrible temper, for one thing. I can't help liking him all the same, though. Sometimes there are jackasses out there I like for some inexplicable reason, though at the same time I can't take his antics seriously. I think because he's a complete lunatic and almost a caricature of the quintessential eccentric goalie, I'll always have a soft spot for that nutcase. Like the way he jumped over the blue lines out of paranoid superstition and talked to his own goalposts.

Roy just copied on him if he did the same. Jacques Plante and Terry Sawchuck (also better than Roy) are the two classic eccentrics between the pipes. Ash Wednesday
I laughed my butt off when it turns out the position that my fiance played growing up was the goalie when he played hockey. It explains a lot. Weirdos.
Ash Wednesday
All this, and he still knew how to embroider and knit. This is why hockey is the most awesome sport on earth.
