Oh yeah, I let him pick out the tuxes, too. We agreed on the style and color so it all worked out well.

Micah had input on almost everything, except my dress. He helped pick out the colors, the cake, the music, table settings, the food, etc. I did a lot of everything myself, the centerpieces, bouquets, my veil, etc.

With rings, dress, food, the extras, and the honeymoon I think we spent less than 5,000 and it was beautiful! Glad we got married during the Christmas season, the Church was already decorated with flowers! lol

haha 6 years makes you forget details! I picked out my dress and bridesmaid dresses (I had shades of blue as my colors and since blue is his favorite it wasn't an issue... if I'd insisted on pink he might have been a little bit contrary lol), and the music. Matt helped pick out the readings, food.... Church decorating and table settings and all that was really left to my mom since she owns a wedding decorating business. :)

I totally understand wedding stress.

It is really the only day in a girl's life that she can wear a dress that no one else will be wearing, that she can shine for her hubby in a way she never has before, that everyone both bride and groom know will come together.

For me, it was all about wanting people to have fun. I think etiquette is important, and same with tradition. These things are difficult to merge together sometimes. DJs are important for atmosphere (everyone has been to a bad wedding caused by terrible music, or some guy just playing a CD player). Catering is also just as important (no one enjoys bad food).

This day isn't JUST the bride and groom's day. It is a day for their families, for their friends, a day to celebrate like no other.

I totally understand the stress.

As someone recently engaged I can say wedding planning seems pretty stressful from this end. Then again I'm a pessimist.
I worry that my family will turn their nose up at a vegetarian feast. (A relative already accused me of not loving my family for not serving them meat) I worry that the foods will get mixed up (food allergies - yikes!).
It's only a matter of time before someone calls me a bridezilla. My catch phrase is "If you want a say, you gots to pay." So far - when things get ugly, saying this has worked. My mom is now paying for relatives she wants there that I can't afford. So are my future in-laws.

I feel bad for brides. They are expected to throw these big huge parties, follow proper etiquette, account for all tastes, make everyone happy, etc etc. and then when they even think about putting their foot down, people call them bridezillas.

It makes me quite angry actually.

I've postposed my thesis, so I'll be doing two of those three at the same time (I'll be finished all my classes tomorrow).
I think I just might be crazy. :topsy:
