Getting A Job At A Protestant Church...?

I worked at an ecumenical agency where I was the only Catholic. My bosses went from a Disciples of Christ minister to a Methodist one at the end. It was hard at times. I just tried to stand witness. It was important work, so I just sucked it up. I also worked at a large homeless shelter that was run kind of non-denominational, but definitely Christian. That was easier. It was run by women, so I don't know it that made a difference. You have a responsibility to support yourself and/or your family, so you have to do what is right for you.
I'm in a similar situation myself. I've applied for a job with an evangelical Christian charity called Aquila Way, which helps vulnerable young women off the streets and gives them a place to live. I mulled it over and decided that I could apply for the job in good conscience. It also seemed to come as an answer to prayer - I prayed for the chance to work with a religious organisation, and two days later that advertisement cropped up. My reasoning is that this group is doing some sterling work, and just the sort of work that Protestants and Catholics should be participating in together. We do need to have communication and interaction if unity is ever to be a realistic proposition, so I don't see what you could lose by applying for this work.
I don't know anything about this group, but it doesn't sound like a problem at all.

I watch Ed Young on Sunday mornings here (Mass is in the evening ;)) and I've often been struck by how Catholic or very-nearly Catholic so much of what he says is. I wanted to order some dvds but in the end I decided I couldn't support someone who taught sola scriptura, even though so much of what he says is fantastic.

Your and your wife's call, I think.

You could always implant St. Benedict medals or green scapulars or whatever in secret places after hours. :ninja: :detective:

God Conquers

My mom is a parish nurse at a protestant church. It has been a really fruitful experience for her. At times there are awkward moments, or comments, but you're the type of guy to handle those things in stride.

It could be an amazing opportunity to witness to them and even grow in your own faith through the experience.
In the spirit of Eccumenism I'd say you should apply. Altough their are chance you may be rejected if they ask "So what Church did you say you attend?"

Go for it, a jobs a job and you still be helping out your fellow Christian. If say, you treat it as just a job.
On the moral objectivity however, that question is better being answered by someone else. Perhaps Father Brian if he sees this.
technically, unless the job specifically requires that you be of a certain religion, they cannot ask that kind of question.

If you look on Amazon.com, you can actually read an excerpt of some of his books.

I'm new around here and don't know what the tenor of the group is, but if you're Catholic, you really should not take a job promoting a Protestant organization. With all due respect, Ecumenism is not really a good reason. I think we've got a case of some bad catechesis among people.

This certainly won't be the last group to offer you a job, so don't end your search here.

This may be unpopular to say, but the opposite of Catholic is not Protestant. It's Heretic.

Sure dust (the ultra-handsome), go ahead and become one of us. :P

Now on the serious side, do you think it would compromise your faith and morality? Just asking, because I know of certain Protestant churches that I, as a Protestant, could never take a job in due to conflicts of ethics and morality.
