My parish priest did it for me.
Resurrexi
I don't wear a scapular because they're itchy.
doe-jo
I used to wear one but I lost mine. I need a new one. edit: I found it!! After I read this thread, I searched for it in my room and I found it behind my Mary statue. Now, Im not very sure on what prayers to say though. Do I only have to say my daily rosary? Or are there anymore prayers? Edited December 22, 2008 by doe-jo
Innocent
I've been wearing the Brown Scapular for eleven years for now, though I'm not enrolled. (Wow, I hadn't realised it was that long until this moment.) There's also a Miraculous Medal and a Benedict Medal attached to it. And I carry my Rosary in my pocket. Even if I don't have much opportunity to pray it while I'm out of home, the crucifix in it reminds me of Christ as it presses against me sometimes during the day. Maximilianus
How can I request to become enrolled in a scapular?
Which ever scapular you get make sure it's 100% wool and do some research on it. You can be invested in most scapulars by any priest but some have specific blessings. For example with the Blue scapular you must have a Marian priest enroll you or a priest that has been given authority by the Marians. Quality scapulars should come with literature that explains the privileges, obligations and method of investiture. The Carmelite scapular I have came with literature that explained the Sabbatine Privilege and a blessing in both English and Latin that you take to the priest for him to enroll you into the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel. TheProdigalCatholic
I ordered a new one from the Sisters of Carmel the other day. It has both medals attached. I can't wait until it gets here!
virginiancatholic
Do I only have to say my daily rosary? Or are there anymore prayers?
There are several things you can choose from, but you only have to pick one: 1) Abstinence on Wednesdays and Saturdays 2) The little office of the Virgin Mary 3) Daily Rosary 4) something complicated that I've forgotten I've been wearing a scapular since I was 8, and was only just recently enrolled when I found out about it! It's funny, cause having worn it for so long, I sort of feel naked without it. I wear it cause without Our Lady's intercession, I'd certainly be on the way of the damned.
