Dave
I wear mine most of the time except when I'm showering, working out, or sleeping. If I wear it while working out, it gets all sweaty and smells nasty, and Mary's garment deserves better, IMO. And once when I wore it while sleeping, the cord broke. Tony
Actually for me it's a sign of my consecration to Mary and a reminder that I am under her mantle, as it were. The closest analogy I can think of would be a wedding ring. It's something you wear that reminds you of the one you love and of your love for each other. It reminds you of your covenant and helps you remain faithful. yeah thats good. I think of it as a spiritual Uniform... i mean just like uniforms that show where you work or goto school, the Scapular is a uniform for those that want to belong and be a service to Mary (and ultimatly Jesus ofcourse)
yesygerm
I currently wear a crucifix of the holy trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but never worn a Scapular. I will start wearing one as of tomorrow (ASH WEDNESDAY). I've always been hesitant to wear it because I was afraid of losing it or something else would happen to it with my everyday work activities or with sports. God is GOOD!!! flowerly, and everyone else, i hate to say it but doesn't it seem like you are a little too dependent on this thing? i mean, you say you feel uneasy when you don't have it.....does that mean you don't have God? remember that God is always with you, whether you have crosses and medals and scapulars hanging out of your ears or whether you're naked as the day you were born. depend on nothing, and nobody, but God. with love, sean

God gives us everything we need to get close to Him. His amesome like that! God bless, flowery +JMJ

IcePrincessKRS
I like to think of my scapular kind of like a seatbelt when driving. Wearing a scapular is not super necessary, but it makes you feel safer in a way. We know God is with us, Mary has her mantle wrapped around us, our guardian angels are by our side, but this little physical badge we wear around our necks is a daily reminder of that, and of our commitment to God. Too dependant? No. Do I love wearing my scapular? Yes Do I feel somehow, not quite whole, without it? Yeah, I feel disappointed in myself that I forgot to put on my little "badge." No one else usually can see it, but as long as I know its there is all that matters. Its a personal reminder to ME. God has given special graces to those who wear/use these items, so it makes sense that we would want to have them with us at all times. I'll take all the graces I can get, thank you very much! :)

littleflower+JMJ
depend on nothing, and nobody, but God. actually thats a main reason why i love being catholic. your not alone, you have a family in Christ. the Church is one big family, united with the Blessed Mother in Heaven, the Saints in Heaven and the Angels of heaven, and all in heaven, along with us here on earth together in one faith. we're never alone. the saints help us, they cheer for us, they show us the way. and we never lose focus on God, because with each step we take our path towards heaven just becomes more sturdy! :D you praise God, you pray to God, you rejoice in Him together as a family in faith. in the celebration of the mass, we're united with them, for heaven and earth meet at that moment of consecration  you have feastdays, you have celebrations, its one big family in christ. so we're not alone, we all got friends in high places, rooting us on, towards the goal of being with Jesus! and thats the greatest feeling to know i think. like that catholic apologist that wrote..."any friend of God's is a friend of mine!" :D so very very true! :D God bless you mulls! flowery +JMJ

"The Carmelite Scapular is not: a magical charm to protect you an automatic guarantee of salvation an excuse for not living up to the demands of the Christian life" well at least that's a relief. dUSt
Mulls, I know some Christians who never leave home without their Bible. They keep it with them all the time and it helps them feel closer to God... Same concept here.
mulls
im not feeling either concept, but to each his own. the more God the better.
Lounge Daddy
The Scapular can be replaced afterwards by a medal, which has on one side the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and on the other, the image of Mary. So, I do not need to keep wearing this brown cloth? Hmmmm… Why do some stick with the cloth scapular? I think I want to land myself a Scapular medal.
