cmotherofpirl
Considering all the medals , rosaries, and scapulars it has eaten it is definitely going to heaven before me.

ChronoMasta
Oh yeah, about the scapular. Aren't you assured of going to heaven if you die while wearing it? Like in a freak accident? I remember that my mother bought us all scapulars when we went flying to Florida like 4 years ago.
cmotherofpirl
Wearing the scapular will not get you to heaven, being in a state of grace will.
Phikoz
i was wondering, i have a scapular, but i have not yet been enrolled in the brown scapular by a priest, so can i still wear the scapular? or do i have to wait until a priest enrolls me into the brown scapular? Thomas
I used to wear a scapular, the lady who ran the rosary club gave it to me in Grade 3 or 4. Now I'm in grade 11. It's been a long time since I wore it, but I really liked it. It was the oval/round silver one. But I was just starting to think, wouldn't it be better to wear a crucifix? I know that we as Catholic's don't put Mary before God and Jesus, but is there a line that's being crossed when people trade in their crucifixes for scapulars? I know the scapular is just a devotion to Mary's intersession, it's not a matter of worshiping her, but still, how many people wear crucifixes? Peace in Christ, -Thomas Edited February 22, 2004 by Thomas

Peace in Christ, -Thomas The most common scapulars on the market include a small crucifix and a St. Benedict medal. But still, the question implies that devotion to Mary somehow takes away from Christ. That focusing on Our Lady somehow diminishes Christ or something. This is not a proper understanding of Marian devotion. Authentic Marian devotion is always about Christ. It leads to Christ and is rooted in the union of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. There is no either/or distinction here, it is a both/and because all Marian devotion flows from, and leads to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As an illustration, if one studies hagiography (the study of the saints) one will notice a trend, the greatest Saints and the greatest lovers of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament are generally the ones with the greatest love for and union with the Immaculate Mother. This is the fruit of belonging totally to Mary, she communicates Herself in a way that transforms the devotee and makes them most pleasing to Jesus and a most fruitful member of the Church. Thomas
Thanks Laudate_Dominum, That clears that up! I'm gonna have to find myself a scapular... Boy, I've had so many questions lately, and they're all getting answered too! I really wasn't expecting such a warm response to my curiosity. Thank you very much everyone!
