Well, I was wondering who all wears a scapular. I used to then stopped, but then I decided to start wearing it. It was like if mary dug it out of wear it was because I had no clue where it was. But when I was walking in my bedroom it was untop of the book I was reading.

So I have been wearing it since yesterday, also the day marking my resistance membership!

I've been wearing mine for a few months now. I have the brown one, is that the one you have?

I wear a brown scapular, and have had it for several years now. :) I like it, its smaller than the ones you usually see so its easier to hide under my clothes. The square of fabric is about a quarter the size of an avatar (at least with the resolution I have my computer set at, it measures about 1 cm x 1cm).

Mine has a white string, with the two attachers (don't know the word) with Our Lady of Moutn Caramel, Pray for us and on teh other one, says St. Simon Stock Pray for us!

I saw your questions in the Q&A phorum, and I just wanted to let you know what I do when I remove and put on my scapular (I don't have any advice for the other 2 items you mentioned...). I always make the Sign of the Cross and kiss my scapular. Sometimes I say a short prayer, whatever pops to my lips first, a Hail Mary, Our Father, or prayer of St. Gertrude--it depends, sometimes its not even one of those. :)

Okay, I'll admit I don't really know what the purpose of a scapular is? Who want to enlighten the newbie?

It's a sign of one's commitment to Our Lady and of living under her mantle. That's the very short answer. :)

The wearing of the Scapular fosters a true devotion to Mary that is based on her supernatural mission in the redemption of mankind. Two Marian doctrines are proposed in the devotion of the Brown Scapular: Mary's Spiritual Maternity and her Mediation of Grace. The Scapular teaches a practical confidence in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin to obtain for its wearer the grace of final perseverance, or a happy death. The two general conditions to obtain this benefit are that one must honor Mary by wearing the Scapular faithfully until death and endeavor sincerely to lead a Christian life. This reliance on Mary's intercession for the gift of final perseverance derives historically from the belief that the Blessed Virgin promised in an apparition to St. Simon Stock, Prior General of the Carmelites (1247?-1265), that all who die wearing the Scapular will not suffer the eternal flames of hell. This tradition has become known as the "Scapular promise."

Theres a WHOLE lot more to the article, but I think that paragraph serves as a pretty good shorter answer, too. :)

One think too hsmom - If you like the idea of the scapular and want to wear it you should probably wait until you are fully in the Church. It's a serious commitment that I personally would not want to undertake without the benefit of the Sacramental Graces.
