Jesus Had Brothers?!

I am really confused and I would love it if someone could explain to me why in Acts we see Mary and Jesus' brothers praying together. There are a couple of mentions of Jesus having brothers and I think even one saying Mary mother of Josus and James .... I can't think of the rest.

I am Catholic and have always been taught that Mary remained a virgin. What of these other children mentioned in the bible?

Essentially, this argument is an argument over semantics, and points out limitations in translating Greek to English. As I am neither a biblical nor Greek scholar, I believe this is a situation when someone else can better answer your question.
