the_rev
"So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household…" Man am I feeling a little bit of Catholicism, that's great!!!!! A question from today's lesson! Question 3. How's your relationship with Jesus Christ? If He were to walk into the room you are sitting in right now, would you jump up and be glad to see Him? Or would you quickly think of all the things you need to straighten out before you feel comfortable talking to Him? Do you know Him in a personal way? My response What kind of a question is that!!!!!! If you saw the God of the universe, you first of all wouldn't jump up and be glad to see him, you would prostrate before him (obviously this writer hasn't read the gospel of Matthew) we shall bow down before him and worship God almighty not recall things we need to straighten out before we feel comfortable. That is our judgement day, when we will go to Hell, Purgatory then heaven, or if you are martyered straight to heaven! Of course my realtionship with God is great. I read scripture daily. I pray the rosary. I pray the divine Mercy Chaplet, and I talk to God. This is what I have so far!

While we understand there are many Catholics who are born again believers, we are concerned about several of the doctrines taught in the Catholic church. Some of the unbiblical teachings are Mariolatry, transubstantiation, purgatory, and the practice of confessing to a priest. We are committed to offering our students sound biblical teaching, and for this reason have chosen to allow only mentors from those churches whose essential doctrines are consistent with scripture. grace, Karen Wilkinson Secretary to Mike Cleveland -----Original Message----- From: ***MY NAME*** Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 8:45 PM To: webservant@settingcaptivesfree.com Subject: Catholic Mentors I am enrolled in your Purity Force and one other program, I forget the name. I was exploring your site and saw that your group doesn't allow Catholics to be mentors. Could you please explain why to me. I look forward to your response. God bless and keep you in all your days Oh my oh my. What to say where to start. Oh about: Some of the unbiblical teachings are Mariolatry, transubstantiation, purgatory, and the practice of confessing to a priest. We are committed to offering our students sound biblical teaching, and for this reason have chosen to allow only mentors from those churches whose essential doctrines are consistent with scripture. Did you know that Catholic doctrines are complete alien to scripture? Last I checked Catholic's were overall pretty well acquanited with the Bible and the Gospels. I don't see what is "unbiblical" about transubstantiation (I wonder if the Proddies deleted the Last Supper from the Gospels becasue that seemed to me to be in support of transubstantiation). Didn't Christ and his closest followers meation purgatory in their writings. That we are to pray for the souls of the died to free them from an imerdiate state? And didn't Christ say to his apostoles "Those who's sins you take away are removed and those who's sins you retain are retained?" Isn't He telling his followers to hear Confession? What the heck is Mariolatry? Do they think we prayer and treat Mary as if she were God? We respect Mary, the Mother of God. She was taken into Heaven, BODY and SOUL. I think she just might be a LITTLE special. I am sorry this reply just has me fuming!

the_rev
My response: To whoever you are: Man, what a phoney you are! I had a friend who sent you an email asking you the same question. His was simple, "Why don't you allow catholics to be mentors?" Here I write a lengthy email, providing scriptural basis for our beliefs, and you write me the same email he got. The same exact wording, word for word. May I ask was the Holy Spirit not guiding you to refer to the teachings of the Church of Christ? May I also ask If you read the bible, because all Catholic Doctrine is based upon scripture. Looking forward to your reply. With Jesus, Mary and Joseph, (Who Bishop Fulton Sheen always ended with...) Iacobus
Eddie, They are ticking me off too. But we are Catholics. We CANNOT stoop to their level. We must hold ourselves up uo a higher standard. That that was set by Christ. We must be civil and kind.
Aloysius
if they understood the difference between charity and niceness i'd have no problem with eddie's comments. but i'm sure they don't, to them anything mean i'm sure is equitable with uncharitable. they should be catechized. Jesus was mean. Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites, why can't Eddie call these ppl phonies? i'm sure calling the Pharisees hypocrites wasn't the best PR to them either...
