catholicinsd
When you refer to the Divine Persons as "Him" or "He" do you usually capitalize them? I do, but I'm curious about other people's habits.

As Spirits are genderless they are referred in the feminine/neutral.

CatherineM
I can't remember ever using a pronoun for the Holy Spirit. Wisdom in the Old Testament is often viewed as feminine, so that may be where that comes from. As a woman, I don't feel slighted in the least using masculine pronouns. catholicinsd
How about in reference to the Blessed Mother or Heaven? Edited March 31, 2008 by catholicinsd
Vincent Vega
How about in reference to the Blessed Mother or Heaven?
As much as I love her, she's almost always referred to in the lower case by me. And heaven is almost always just spelled out for me, but when it is pronounified, I use lowercase. The uppercase thing for me is reserved for the Holy Trinity. MissScripture
I capitalize the Holy Trinity, but I don't capitalize the pronouns for Mary. If it is a title, then of course, but not just "she." I also capitalize Heaven because it is a place, and therefore a proper noun.

prose
Holy Spirit... I guess I go with He... I guess all I call He, but that is because proper English dictates (more or less), when in doubt, use he as the pronoun (yes I know it is more complicated, please don't flame me). I always capitalize God words, not anyone else's unless it is a proper noun. And I am like Catherine, I am not at all offended when people use masculine pronouns. HOWEVER, I am annoyed when they try to de-gender things and end up using improper English because they are afraid of offending me.
