I am excited to register. I know a while back they said I might need to come there and take some classes. Something about FUS experience. If that is the case we will need to get together when I am in the area.
Definitely go for a few classes! The campus is amazing! If you go during the Summer it is kinda quiet but still very awesome! Can anyone tell I really want to go back to Steubie? rofl
Brother Adam
That's one of those strange things about steubenville. its an enigma. Even though all of us conservatives constantly complained about the liturgies, as soon as you leave you want nothing more than to go back. I get to go back this summer for the Bosco Conference to get my advanced YM certification since I didn't get a concentration in YM.

Laudate_Dominum
Apotheoun lived less than a block from me for at least a year (how long were you at TE?) and we never managed to get together. My fault really.. I was out of town a lot back then and I'm generally reclusive. Although.. If you're in town and phatty is still around we should have a beer and archery get together like what we used to do last year before winter came. My fault really.. I
I lived at Trinity East dorm, which was prophetically named since I became an Eastern Catholic while attending FUS, from August 2003 until December 2005. I must admit that I had a great time while I was there, and met a lot of great people, many of whom became Eastern Catholic too (e.g., Chelsea, Rosemary, Quanah, et al.), and one even became Eastern Orthodox. I remember how a large number of us from the dorm would caravan to St. Mary's Byzantine Church over in Weirton WV every Sunday for divine liturgy, and to think it all started because a Ukrainian Catholic that lived in the room across from mine at the dorm didn't like the Masses on campus, and I tagged along with him because I wasn't thrilled by them either, and of course that eventually helped to convince me to change ritual Churches. I suppose the change was somewhat inevitable, because my theology had been moving in an Eastern direction for sometime (beginning around the year 2000), and that made the transition easier, but I really did feel at home at St. Mary's. I love the Triadological and Christological theology of the East, the veneration of icons, the importance of ritual actions in worship, the incarnational focus, and the doctrine of theosis, which is intimately bound to the theology of energy. Ah, I had a great time at FUS.
N/A Gone
I was emailing Dr. Hildebrand and I mentioned some of the FUS students/former students I had talked to on phatmass. I mentioned you (apotheoun) and Dr. Hildebrand only had very kind things to say about you.

He encouraged me to search for the truth no matter where it may take me theologically, and to simply trust in divine providence. You have to get it from the man though, its just too expensive otherwise ($60 retail).

Ah, I had a great time at FUS.
Crazy. Thanks for sharing. I'm not quite informed on what it takes to switch ritual traditions like that. I thought it was just something you were born into, or was something that only certain areas of the world were expected to follow (when it comes to Catholic Christianity). To be honest, I've "flirted" with the idea of becoming an Eastern Christian. But I've never been to a liturgy, and the only Eastern-type church in town is a Greek Orthodox. I'm not about to abandon the truth of the Roman Pontif, though. I'm guessing one of your dorm mates had a problem with the Seat of Peter (among many things I suppose)? Anywho, interesting. Thanks again for sharing (and I hope I've been clear in my babblings).
