For A Friend

Please pray for my friend Laura, who is ill and is being prevented from seeking help by her mum. Her mum is very paranoid about life and is convinced that Laura isn't as ill as she's making out and that she's deliberately 'ruining people's lives'. Her mum has an unusual degree of control over Laura's life, even though Laura is nearly seventeen. Laura isn't allowed to make a doctor's appointment or even go out of the house on her own. Until very recently her mum used to insist on showering her. (Luckily Laura is now able to shower alone.) She means well, but she's very controlling.

Today Laura plans to tell a teacher about her illness and her home situation, but last night she was wavering and saying, "I can't betray my mother." She was meant to be talking to her teacher now, at eleven o'clock GMT. Please pray that she is given the wisdom to see that getting help for herself isn't betrayal, that refusing to be cowed by her mum's emotional blackmail is the best thing she can do to help her mum as well as herself, and that there are trustworthy people in the world who want to help her.
