Crossing The International Dateline On Good Friday

I'll be traveling from Japan to Virginia on Good Friday, and will be crossing the international dateline(by air of course). Exactly how does fast and abstinence work out for me on that day?

On questions like this I always hope that someone else would answer...

I looked through Canon Law, a few books, and the internet to find nothing conclusive. I then emailed a canon lawyer, who is usually rather busy, and he has not emailed me back.

So, for your sake I will take a guess and say that when in Rome do as the Romans do, in other words you will be living Good Friday for a while longer then most people.

I have some practical things that could help you get through this in a spirit of obedience and penance;

Fasting is from midnight to midnight in the Roman Rite.

The Church leaves it up to each person to determine what an average meal for them would be.(I hesitate to mention this because most Americans have serious trouble with portion sizes, and we must be still be obediant.)

Liquids, such as protein shakes, do not count against the fast.
And keep in mind your loving obedience of God's law brings grace into the world.
