HM! Yes, I am going to have to print this off and show to our vocation director.
I guess the next thing will be a video of some sort. I haven't a clue how I am going to con someone into letting me get them on camera.
Thanks again for all your help. You guys have really been a great resource for me!
...and since y'all need to have a website, remember to showcase those entering (even if they leave later). It shows activity and interest.
Hi! Sister! I wouldn't waste your money on vocation ads anymore. the web is the place to be! And everyone is right--a video is a big draw now. You could easily and cheaply do some short vocation testimony videos! I've been thinking of it but everyone runs away from me!

That's true - vocation story videos are excellent. You could look on YouTube, there are a couple of them up there.

Oh, and Sr. MC, come on, you're cloistered! How far can they run, really? :D

I began looking for communities through what is now Free2Become, formerly known under the less catchy title 'Westminster Vocations Group'. They have articles and links that have helped me very much. I think they only advertise British communities. You could still take some ideas from their site, though, Sister.

Bleh, I was around when there were Men's and Women's Vocation Groups at Westminster!
But...I think I prefer to old names. At least then I knew what it was about ;)

I will add my vote saying that the web is the best place to go. Pictures are wonderful because they give a "face" to the all the written stuff. Sometimes I'm' not quick to read huge paragraphs, but pictures say a lot! Also, make sure that there is an easy way to contact the vocation directress. I've had a hard time with some websites that didin't give that info. Very discouraging to have to hunt and dig for info. One website had a little survey and the sisters used the info. to send out general e-mails and little mailings and to take prayer requests. I thought that was neat! Peace!

now that i think about it, all the vocation brochures i've received were just that - pretty brochures. the web more than satisfies that, and saves trees, too.

finally went to the vision site http://www.vocation-network.org/ and it's pretty good. did the "vocation match" thing and two directors ended up contacting me. one of whom i've thought about but never took the initiative to contact.

i just wanted to throw out there that ive seen the vision mag (got it on a vocations awareness weekend in my diocese) and couldn't stand it. i dont know about everyone else but if you asked me, id tell you not to waste your money.

the orders i have been attracted to have not attracted me with ad campaigns or flyers... they've attracted me with their love and service of God's people. they came to me by word of mouth (the best way to reach people!) and i was able to experience, first-hand, the things i had heard.
