dairygirl4u2c
The founder of Rome's Catholic university hospital concluded Padre Pio was "an ignorant and self-mutilating psychopath who exploited people's credulity". The Vatican, deeply suspicious, banned him from saying Mass in public. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/wor...icle3096451.ece (i looked on google news) a former pope thought him a fraud http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/f...icle2739751.ece now, i tend to believe in him, cause i remember a story of a girl who coudl see wihtout pupils after praying to him. but, the contra evidence is compelling and makes me question that about the pupils. Pontifite 7 of 10
Didn't doctors study his wounds after he died and said they weren't self-inflicted?
CatholicCid
Any type of credibility they could even possibly attempt to claim in their article goes completely out the window with this: The modernising Pope John XXIII was said to have authorised the bugging of his confessional to check on him. CatherineM
This stuff surrounded him for many years, but it was shown repeatedly that he was not self-mutilating. There are always people in authority (I'm not talking about any popes) who are suspicious of those under them getting publicity. Mother Theresa and Father Damian had their detractors, usually petty people with their own agendas.
CatholicCid
The Vatican should be suspicious. I would think the saying of an Exorcist i've heard would apply here, The exorcist should be the last to believe. Or, in this case, the Vatican should be the last to believe in these cases, especially miracles.
qfnol31
They were the last people to believe and isolated him in a room for a long while.

Justin86
It figures the devil would want to go after one of the most powerful saints of our times. Since the devil hates Padre Pio so much, I guess I should start praying to him!

dairygirl4u2c
plus they say anyways, that he had wounds that light could be shown through. and, they say, his hands were healed at death with no scars. that could only be a miracle, if true.
