curtins
rediculous when I played basketball, we had female refs sspx WOULD do this...
Mercy me
It makes no sense to me. Certainly there have always been female teachers, nuns even that have taught boys. I don't see how they would be able to justify their position.
Moneybags
I support their action in part. I also strongly endorse SSPX~!!!
qfnol31
It was imprudent to join an organization that has women refs if they knew it would eventually be a problem. It should have been addressed well in advance of the game and shows like of foresight to wait until the last possible moment to make their ideas known. However, if they did voice their concerns when joining the association and the heads of the organization still permitted them to join, then the school should be allowed to tell her no. qfnol31
By the way, I support no group that implies that Trent is heretical (i.e. Protestant) or in practice denies the teachings of Vatican I. You would do well to investigate their errors. Edited February 15, 2008 by qfnol31

curtins
I don't see how this can be interperted as anything other than bigotted..... these are the same people who believe it to be immoral for women to wear anything with lace on it..... come on, lets get real. Veritas
I don't see how this can be interperted as anything other than bigotted.....
+ Hmm... maybe because Paul talks about it in the Scriptures. I'm not saying it's necessarily a valid interpretation, but for Bible readers, it's definitely there. Women shouldn't teach men or be "over" them. Gee, it must be a bunch of Catholics around here! I think it's funny how quick Catholics are to call others bigoted, being that we are so constantly accused of this inaccurately because we also hold to gender distinctions and tradition. If anything, seems rather hypocritical of us to be calling foul from such a one-sided report.
KnightofChrist
I dont know where I stand on this issue since I dont know the whole story. But as far as the SSPX, while I do not support the actions, the excommunicated bishops mainly, it most be remembered, according to Cardinal Castrillón the sspx priests and laity are catholics, and are not really schismatic, or excommunicates. Ash Wednesday
I think it's b.s. It's officiating a basketball game, not attempting to join the priesthood for crying out loud.

Just go to the SSPX website and read the FAQs on the left hand for their view using Canon Law - it is highly convincing.

Veritas
+ People have a lot of opinions so far, but by and large, provide no support for their stance, which makes them not very convincing. We are arguing about principle, which is what this group of folks is standing on -a matter of principle.
