Veritas
+ They've got every right to do it. There are many, many legitimate forms of discrimination -ALL of us, discriminate daily. The desire to have men over men and women over women is a legitimate right in accordance with religious traditions. God bless them. Yes, I am a woman. HeavenlyCalling
Men always ref our ( read as 'our schools ') games, I have never seen a woman do it. Even the high schoolers who sometimes ref games for little kids are all guys, but I dont know as there is any rule that says it has to be so. Thy Geekdom Come
I don't have a problem with having coaches, refs, and teams of the same gender set as a rule, since it could make things simpler in some sports, especially contact sports. I do have a problem with the reason being that a woman can't have authority over boys. Sorry, but that's dumb. I wonder why Jesus was obedient to Mary. He must not have been an SSPXer. CatherineM
We always had male refs and umps. I didn't have a female coach until highschool. The worst ref we ever had was a male who also happened to be the principal of the other team's school. Now that was discrimination. We got so many technical fouls that we ended the game with only 3 players left on the court.

fides quarens intellectum
i'm just glad the article mentioned it was SSPX, not Catholic, and that their founder had been excommunicated by JPII so that this doesn't add to anyone's anti-Catholicism.
