bonoducchi
I feel like a geek for doing this, but I'll do it anyway. My archbishop invited me to cook and have dinner with him next week. What should I prepare? What should I charge him? (Only half kidding...)
29908
Um... You should make a spinach salad with diced strawberries and a vinagarette (sp?) dressing with nuts of choice on top... and... um, steak? Idk what priests like to eat... And CREME BRULE FOR DESSERT! The only time I've had dinner with bishops or priests, its been out at a restaurant. And I've always picked up the tab.
Era Might
Didn't I see you mention before that you're Italian? Eggplant parmigiana! Charge him a loaf of Italian bread.
Deb
Something you have cooked before, tastes good and you are comfortable doing. Don't get all freaked and make something you aren't sure of. You will be fine.

It's amazing! wow, Era we're having similar brainwaves here... my other thought was Chickpea and Leek soup. That would make a good first course. prose
My suggestion? Call his secretary if you feel comfortable enough and ask what he enjoys. My experience is that most priests get served things that are superfancy when they would rather just have Chinese food Seriously though, you can call his secretary and ask if he has any allergies (which is important) and then slide in that you were wondering if there was any food that he would prefer. CatherineM
I agree with prose. Call and ask his secretary. I once invited my new pastor over and almost made a big mistake. I was going to make lasagna, and found out just the night before that he hated pasta (who hates pasta?) He was a meat and potato guy and wouldn't eat anything else. You also can never tell when someone has an allergy. We had a woman in RCIA last year who had Celiac disease, so we had to make some changes in refreshments for her benefit. WillT
Umm, the archbishop is a man right? Eggplants? Salads? Leeks and chickpea soup? I mean it has the word CHICK right there in the name. Seriously though, I would ask him (or his secretary) what kind of food he likes. My wife once baked a cake for our pastor on Father's Day only to find out he had about twelve already in his office, so you may find out what he hasn't had recently and try that too.
