Fr. Antony Maria OSB
a friend of mine goes to belmont abbey. she's majoring in business management. if you have specific questions, i can get them to her or i can ask her if she knows anyone majoring in philosophy/theology who could answer your questions.
Missionarybelle, if you could ask your friend some questions that would be awesome! Really the questions that I have are how are the philosophy/theology courses in teaching in accordance with Rome? How active is the community in living the Catholic Faith? How well adapted is the atmosphere are for discerning a religious vocation? And overall how welcoming is the community? Thank you very much! CrossCut, right now I'm trying to keep my search for colleges within the colleges which hold the Mandatum, and while I am discerning the priesthood, I don't feel as though God is calling me to college seminary. Thank you, though.' May God bless and protect you always in all of your endeavors! Your Brother in Christ, Joe
Old_Joe
I'd look for a book called "The Newman Guide." Fr. Groeschel, Peter Kreeft, and others were part of a committee that reviewed Catholic colleges and universities here in the United States. They produced list of about 92 that were considered good for education and academics and good with regards to orthodoxy. Although Fr. Groeschel's personal opinion is to find a good secular college or university that has good Newman Center nearby.
qfnol31
May I plug my alma mater and say it has a wonderful philosophy (and maybe better? theology) program? UD.
Fr. Antony Maria OSB
Old_Joe, thank you for your suggestion of the Newman Guide: I didn't know about it, but found a list of those schools online, so I'll check into some of them more deeply. qfnol31, I looked briefly at UD before, and while I really liked what I saw, it is too expensive for me to go there. Thanks for the suggestion, though. May God bless and protect you always in all of your endeavors! Your Brother in Christ, Joe

Fr. Antony Maria OSB
Alright, I retract my earlier statement about UD: I am applying there and really hope that I can go there. I am visiting over President's Day weekend, so please pray that everything goes well! Thank you! May God bless and protect you always in all of your endeavors!
