qfnol31
128
Don't worry, in my 6 years there I can remember 107, maybe 108. Eventually we forgot about it. Actually, within a month of the 40 days over 100, the temperature dropped below 100 for all but 2 days during the next year. The entire year was wet and under average. On seven separate days I saw snow (plus others of ice)!
Dallas is firmly planted at the top of my College list. There are only one or two factors now that could change my mind. It is the perfect compromise between what my mother wants (rigorous academia and reputation) and what I want (Orthodox Catholicism and challenging academics). Thanks for the first hand experience, qfnol. I'm loving the school more and more. What do you mean by the campus spirituality being "pretty good"?
I'm really happy to hear you want to go to UD! It's really worth it. At first I was intimidated by what they have to offer (I was really bad in English classes), but it has really helped me out. The things that scared me most were some of my favourite parts! As far as Orthodox Catholicism, the school is great, especially the current theology program. I can't speak for all the professors, but I can recommend some if you're interested. I said the campus spirituality is pretty good because I will recognize that not everyone there is actively Catholic. That and I didn't care for campus Masses as much, though they're orthodox and you might be fine with them. I just prefer the local Cistercian spirituality. I also admit that drinking can be a problem, but most of the time my friends were moderate. It really depends on whom you hang out with. Likewise, people tend to like the academic lifestyle, which is great...just so long as you don't forget the reason you do it, which is for Our Lord. I think this aspect of the school is slowly improving, however. And don't get me wrong, I think it's much better than most schools I've encountered. Alycin
I trust you! Haha. I'm guessing maybe it's just the fact that I am more in the business areas when I'm in Dallas? Lots of cars and highways and restaurants and such. haha. Strange to think that you don't live even 2 hours away from me and yet you get pretty color-changing trees and I get trees that go from green to brown. Lucky! Alycin
^ It's true... I swore my loyalties when I moved here from CA but... even though I complain about TX all the time... it truly is home.
