qfnol31
Like my last poll, I began this one because I am curious how many people on here have spiritual directors.
the_rev
I answered question two wrong. When I was in seminary I had a spiritual director but I don't have one now and I know I need one.

Deb
I not only want one, I need one. I do have an appointment with my Pastor next Monday for some direction but, I know if I want to go to him regularly, it will have to be every four to six months because he is the only priest at our church. I wish he had an associate because he is brilliant. I can at least pick up a lot in his homilies and read further on scripture he quotes and saints he references. Luckily I have a sister whose conversion started seven years ago so she has helped me out a lot, especially when things happen that freak me out. I also read everything I can get my hands on. I do need someone to clear some things up at times and also to let me know if I am following the right path, reading the right materials etc. Growing in faith is hard work and I want to keep moving forward and never slip back. I am praying for God to send someone to me.
Moosey
I don't have one but I think it's about time I took a trip to the "spiritual director store" and got one. When one is in a spiritual rut it helps to have an objective point of view from a person such as a priest.
corban711
i used to have one but i don't have one currently. i don't want spiritual direction the way i used to have it. we would meet every week and to me that was a bit much, but i was going through the spiritual exercises at the time so it was kinda necessary. after that we did once a month, but by that time i really wasn't getting much out of direction with him. part of me would kind of like to find a new one though. i do have several good friends who are both holy and intelligent/good with discernment i talk to from time to time that help me out a lot but its not really formal direction... CatherineM
Mine is in Brazil right now, but we still talk everyday almost. Sometimes I wonder if she is my spiritual director, or if I'm hers.
Pio Nono
JMJ 1/28 - St. Thomas Aquinas I'm a seminarian, so I have to have one. But I'm so glad I got hooked up with the one I have - Fr. Pontifex told me to get this guy. He's a priest from Chicago and he's a total saint (and no, they aren't mutually exclusive! ).

I'd like to but for now any priest that we have access to has to drive from Omaha here to Colorado every weekend and holy day for Masses. They are more than tight on time. There is one priest available, in Denver, but he's pretty much the only one in Colorado so he's insanely stripped of extra time as well.
Deb
So, how does one go about getting a priest for a spiritual director? I saw I could contact the minnesota charismatic renewal office but, I don't want a lay person. Maybe the Archdiocese? I suppose I can just ask Fr. next week, maybe he knows of someone. My sister lucked out. Her priest at the time of her conversion has kept on as her spiritual director even though he has gone on to teach at St. Thomas. He is really great. And while they don't offer women's retreats, you could call and ask Twila if you could speak to one of the priests about spiritual direction. (its kind of a haul for you to go to Demontreville, but maybe they know of a good jesuit more in your neighborhood) If you do end up going, its unbelieveably gorgeous. And you could visit the cloistered carmelite nuns on the grounds. (well visit is a strong word since you talk to them through a speakerport. But they love visitors)
Deb
Great idea. My sister and I were going to go to church there one Saturday morning but we got all that snow so didn't make it. My sis said it is a great place to go and I could get a scapular there. It really isn't that far away. I have passed the exit many times but, never really know where it led. Just thought it was a very strange name. Thank you!

doe-jo
I just asked a close carmelite priest friend last night to be my spiritual director. I figured I need it for discerning my vocation. I've been discerning the for a while but never had a spiritual director.
