Click on "Complete Cast and Crew". I'm already logging plot inconsistancies in the Star Trek timeline. What about Dr. Piper? Gary Mitchell? Kelso? If this is during Kirk and Spock's academy days, then are Chekov and Sulu 5th-graders?

View the pilot episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and the two-part episode "The Menagerie" (based on the episode "The Cage", which was supposed to be the pilot earlier) to see what I'm talking about.

And another question: what head will the Klingons wear?

sounds like Leonard will be doing the opening statement... here's the big question of the day: will they go where no man has gone before, or where no "one" has gone before??

i didnt know it was supposed to be their academy days. hmm...

in the end, though, there are already a few slight inconsistencies in start trek history anyway... I think in some of them, whatever the movie does will settle it as canon.

the klingon head hasn't been an issue for the movies, right? the movies always had the newer head, I don't see why they would revert to the original television head. as far as that goes, i believe the explanation is simply that it was a low budget television show but the actual canon klingons are supposed to have ridges on their forehead and all that.

I bet you dollars to donuts that they have an army of trekky nerds gettin paid as consultants or somethin'... so I think they'll iron these out as much as possible.

So wait... they're having Captain Christopher Pike... but kirk certainly never served on the enterprise with him, correct? Or is this more around the time Kirk takes over command of the enterprise?
Why aren’t characters listed with their ranks?
It is currently believed that the film will jump around in time, but it is unknown specifically what ranks the characters will be seen as during the film.

If the film is set before TOS, then how can McCoy, Chekov and Uhura be in the film?
Although McCoy, Chekov and Uhura did not appear in the Original Series pilot ‘Where no Man Has Gone Before’, there is no reason to assume that this means they didn’t join the crew until after the time of the pilot. It is said that the Enterprise had a crew of hundreds, yet you would only see a handful in any given episode. The character of Chekov did not appear in the episode ‘Space Seed’, yet this was ignored by the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan…so there is precedent.
Plus these characters may not be seen on the Enterprise, but before their time
on the ship.
I so knew they'd make it temporal (especially to fit some of the original actors in), but I hope they don't go overboard on that front. If the Borg make an appearance, that'll really annoy me.
the klingon head hasn't been an issue for the movies, right? the movies always had the newer head, I don't see why they would revert to the original television head. as far as that goes, i believe the explanation is simply that it was a low budget television show but the actual canon klingons are supposed to have ridges on their forehead and all that.
The problem is that the Klingon forehead change was canonized by the DS9 episode Trials and Tribble-ations.
This episode did not try to explain the difference but it was part of the dialogue which means that it is now an actual part of canonical Star Trek history.

The real problem - and this is most unfortunate in my opinion - is that the writers of Star Trek Enterprise attempted to canonize one of the many theories relating to this problem. The writers opted to explain the lack of forehead ridges in some Klingons for some time on the basis of what they called the Klingon augment virus, which was supposedly created as a result of genetic experimentation gone bad.
As funny as this may sound this "plague" that afflicted Klingons for at least a century had also been invoked to explain why the color of Klingon blood is different in Star Trek VI than in the TNG+ era shows.

And although a minor point I must suggest that there is a Klingon ridge problem even in the movies although it is to a lesser degree. From the movies as a whole we can identity several types of Klingons with different degrees of forehead ridges.

These types differ from the usual type with the more pronounced ridges and groovy eyebrows.
