Harry Potter Is No Hero

You know, one of the things the article did [i]not[/i] say about the Harry Potter books was that they were Satanic and were going to lead children to devil worship, which I think is one thing that the pro-Potter crowd is trying very desperately to counter. The Observer just pointed out that even though Tolkein and Lewis protrayed magic in both positive and negative ways what they did not do was protray it to be able to save us. Rome was quite right when it pointed out it was ultimately Harry's magical, secret abilites that saved him and the world whereas in the Tolkein and Lewis traditions it weighed more on the descions of the main charcters, who actually had no magical ability at all.

As usual I think the sound minds at the Vatican have given us a more logical conculsion that falls inbetween the two extremes of calling Harry Potter devil worship, and praising J.K Rowling as another Tolkien or Lewis. She was always clearly neither. We Catholics should be focusing more of our attention on the His Dark Scerets series than we should Harry Potter but Harry should not be immune from criticism either, in my opinion.
