goldenchild17
I don't really agree, but I don't like archuleta at all. But yeah the judge's I think will have enough impact to sway a lot of people archuleta's way. archie's song choices were possibly a little more well known, but they were all the exact same. Just as they have been all year. He never does anything different. I can't imagine how there could be interest in a whole album of his, when ever song will sound the same probably. Cook might not have chosen the most popular songs but he did a different kind of song each time. One harder, one softer etc. As far as the actual singing, I think they probably did a somewhat equal job, but I though Cook's mixture of song choices was a lot better. But I do see Archuleta definitely winning. doesn't really matter to me though, I just hope Cook puts out an album before too long because I'm definitely gonna check it out. His first 2 songs we pretty good (the 2nd one may have been a Christian one....did anybody notice that?), and, while I thought his 3rd song was excellent, it was not the right song to sing at that moment. I mean, he's been "the rocker" this whole season, giving us unforgettable performances such as "Billie Jean," "Eleanor Rigby," and "Always Be My Baby." To pick a chilled-out song like "The World I Know" for his final performance, when he could've done anything he wanted to do was, IMHO, a lousy choice. He sang it well and I'd like to hear that music come from him...just not as the final performance in the final round of American Idol. That being said, DA was brilliant. The kid's got boat-loads of vocal talent, but not a lick of performance skills; however, because of his "awshucks" looks and his appeal to the younger crowd who vote more than anyone, he will definitely win this thing. And, at the end of the day, as Randy said last night, he peaked at the right time. His performances last night were spot on and his selection of "Imagine" at the end was exactly the right choice. It was the song that put him on the map and he sang it better than he had before. Sadly, DC should've done the same.
homeschoolmom
Archie will win this thing, no doubt. I agree that his song selection was right for him, but singing them with NO difference (other than slowing down the already painfully slow "Imagine") makes him boring. I think David Cook doesn't really want to win, frankly. He will be MUCH better off if he doesn't and can negotiate a better contract deal than AI would lead too. Honestly, I think that's what he's been doing for a couple of weeks now-- auditioning for potential contracts... showing his range of different abilities. Why did they not both sing the winner of the writing contest like Jordan and Blake did last year? (That was a complete disaster, btw, completely unfair. All the producers had to do was declare a winner in the style of whichever singer they wanted to win... ie a Jordan-type song).... maybe that's why they didn't do it? He is very monotonous. Great talent...not much style. He'll end up in the sale-rack in less than 2 years, you watch. I dunno about your feelings on DC. I think he wants to win, but he realizes that, even if he doesn't he's still gonna get a record deal and he's still gonna bank. It's like being the #2 pick in the NFL draft. Sure the #1 pick gets all the glitz and glamor and publicity. But #2 is still pretty beaver dam good and will make virtually the same amount of money (and see the same amount of playing time) as the #1 does. DC is gonna have a successful career...I'd say he's the one with the most star potential. On a side note, has anyone noticed how the producers of AI are conveniently trying to lump Chris Daughtery's success into the fold? I mean, they had this montage last night of the former winners...but absent from that was Taylor Hicks in favor of....Daughtery. Interesting. I think Daughtery is the only AI contestant to get as much radio time & variety in song as Kelly Clarkson, and he didn't even win. Jaime
I think David Cooke conceded before he even took the stage. But I'll tell you this, I've downloaded a David Cooke song and I have no intention of ever buying a David Archuletta song. I think the 14 year old girls are gonna bring this one home tonight. Then six months from now we will here about how David Archuletta had a nervous breakdown trying to please his dad.

I'm just pointing out that, everytime he's not singing, the kid looks like he's going to do some combination of fainting, crying, and wetting-himself. He's got zero stage presence, instead looking (through squinted eyes) out into the crowd, panting, sweating and licking his lips whenever he isn't crooning. The kid's got mad singing talent...but that's it.
