MissScripture
It didn't say if the bottle was empty or full? Perhaps they were just carrying it to a party and forgot it? Would have been totally legit, after all the kid is of legal age. But kudos to the mother for putting her foot down.
Where he is, legal drinking age is 21. Not to mention, his mom specifically said no booze, so I don't think it matters if its his, someone elses, full or empty.

Plus, if his Mom is paying for the car... her money her rules. If he doesn't stick to them its her prerogative to take it away. She said "No alcohol" not "You can't have alcohol but your friends can." No means no, doesn't matter who brought it.

Deeds
I don't know... I think it's her prerogative to sell the car as punishment if she wants, but was it really necessary to humiliate her son in a newspaper (funny as it is)? It seems a tad harsh if he generally toes the line, but who knows what the full story is.
qfnol31
I actually thought it was appropriate. I have a feeling (if he's anything like my brother) that he's said some things about her like that. I think that such a sarcastic response might be what he needed to hear.
