immaculata
Hey guys, I'm working on the next issue of our diocesian teen newsletter, and I'm supposed to answer this question: What do you do when people make fun of you for being Catholic? I've gone to a Catholic school my whole life, so I haven't really run into much anti-Catholicism so far. But I know a lot of you have stories about how you've stood up for your faith. Care to share any tips? :D All for the Immaculata, Katrina

Seatbelt Blue
Most of my friends respect me too much to make crack comments, and the people who do make such comments generally focus on abusive priests. I agree that it's a horrible thing, trot out some statistics, and they shut up.
Rebirth flame
I go to a Catholic High School, where the halls are littered with stories about people getting wasted over the weekends. I am often the target of ridicule at my school because I refuse to take part in getting drunk or getting high, and I make it well known that I do not condone such behavior. I have been called "Jesus Freak," "God's Tool," and my personal favorite, "Bible Boy." But I don't let these things get to me. I am quite fond of these nicknames because it tells me that people can see God within me. I know that maybe someone might see me walking around sporting a Catholic t-shirt and a Benedictine Crucifix, and that they might see I'm striving for more than this world has to offer, and that I don't need to get drunk or high to feel a sence of worth or happiness. I don't know if this is quite what you're lookin for, but i hope it can be of some help!!! :D

Aloysius
i am annoyed, because ppl sometimes call me "Jesus" i told them that was irreverent, like pointing to a pile of dung and calling it Jesus. so now they call me a piece of sh*t... lol i like it better, that way it's not irreverent to the Holy Name
