Hindus And Christians Clash

The Hindu religion is from Hell, imho (and in that of my history prof).

Among other things, it has created one of the longest-lasting and most oppressive systems in the world with its rigid caste system. People born into a low caste are treated lower than dirt, and are allowed to do only the most menial of tasks, and any attempt to escape one's caste is condemned and punished. The caste system is strongly tied into the Hindu belief in reincarnation and karma. (Those born into a low caste are being punished for their offenses in past lives, and it is wrong to interfere with cosmic justice).
Note that in this report, the Hindu militants were angry with the Christians for trying to help those in lower castes better their condition.

I know I'm going to catch the usual flack from the bleeding hearts for my "intolerant bigotry."
However, I find it sad that whenever there is a story about the misdeeds of Muslims, Hindus, or other non-Christians, the knee-jerk reaction of some on these boards seems to be to find how Christians must somehow really be the ones to be blame.
Unfortunately, a handful of missionary groups in India have a nasty habit of providing food to needy people only if they convert to Christianity. This practice was widespread in the days of the British Raj and it still hasn't died out completely. It gave rise to the popular and derogatory term 'powder-milk Christians', which is applied to people who convert out of basic necessity rather than religious conviction.
Very true. Even today, sometimes some Muslim and Hindu friends come up to me and ask me if it is true that the Church lures converts with gifts of houses. Houses!
