A Little Poetry From The Pros

Probably my favorite emily dickinson poem ^_^

I'm nobody, who are you?

Are you nobody too?

There's a pair of us, don't tell!

They'd banish us, you know!

How dreary to be somebody!

How public like a frog,

To tell your name the livelong day

To an admiring bog!

...And that's a bad thing how? ;)

It is hard for us poetry lovers to do much else, but otehr things must be done. In my case, I need to study theology and you need to do HW for school.

Make poetry your reward :)

poetry as a reward....smart ;)

phatmass used to be my reward.

guess i can combine the two :D

Well, I used to study and read poetry always. It was great when, while going for my B.A., I actually had to read poetry for homework....those were the days.

Now, since the seminary schedule and the onslaught of Hahn's book, Cantalamessa, and a couple of others, I don't have the same amount of time. So, as a reward for a job well done, or when I don't have anything to do, as rare as that is, I read poetry as a reward. It is probably my favorite genre of writing, and I miss it terribly.

In fact, I remembered that I had a poem I thought I had never finished. It's done now...that would mean that I have broken my 3-4 year poet's block...boy that feels good.

Good Night

God Bless

we need a poetry forum for our stuff and all the great stuff that needs passed on.

Agreed. We seriously need to talk to dUst about that. I would be more than willing to help out too.

God Bless

Oh, and I LOVE this one by William Wordsworth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wandered lonely as a cloud

I WANDERED lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay: 10

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

I gazed--and gazed--but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood, 20

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils.
