Guest Tabs
Why does the Virgin mary have WAY more feastdays than Christ? Isn't that just wrong?
Pontifex
I think it is wrong to say that Mary has more feast days than Jesus. Every Sunday Mass is the feast of the Resurrection. Even in the the weeks of Lent, we still take time to celebrate the fact that Jesus is alive! So in actuality there are WAY more feast days for Jesus than any other. Furthermore, even on the days when we honor Mary or a saint in a special way, we are honoring Christ. The reason we honor them is because there lives were transformed and give us examples as to how to live the Christian life. Of course, Mary is emphasized greatly in this collective honoring, and she should be. She is the gate by which divinity became humanity. She is the first disciple, whose obedient 'yes' gave birth to Jesus. We are to imitate her in all things, for when we say 'yes' to God, and obediently accept our cross we give birth to Jesus in our world. Peace, Fr.
