MissScripture
A middle school teacher at a local middle school showed this video from GodTube, and got in a lot of trouble. If this isn't Jesus shoved down your throat, I don't know what is. I'd just like to know how a public school teacher justified showing this to a class (a health class, to be precise). Apparently, this teacher is now on unpaid leave and has to write letters of apology to all the students.
Starets
high-pressure guilt tactics like that are one of the reasons why I am no longer fundamentalist
cathoholic_anonymous
None of that has anything to do with Jesus. If you place that video alongside Jesus' own teaching - the Sermon on the Mount, His parables, the way He behaved with His friends - it's impossible to see any similarities between them at all. I don't even recognise the God that the video talks about.
jeffpugh
I didn't really watch it... i just skimmed it... it sounds like a scare tactic... none of the depictions from the friend's letter sounded like the hell we know about... hell is a choice... not a "oh an angel locked me up in here... and they're coming to throw me in the lake of fire! ohh help me! I want to be in heaven!!" and so on... it's distorted... what is wrong w/ these people!?

prose
Wow. I would be more than a little angry if someone showed some garbage like that to my kid.
MissScripture
Yeah. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would find it okay to show that to a room full of jr. high students. Not to mention at a public school!
XIX
Geesh, I don't even see any "filpping tables in the Temple" Jesus in there.
Starets
This has more to do with american fundamentalism and its approach to evangelization and catechising than it does of the Gospel message. Salvation is reduced to (Hell)fire insurance, the "unsaved" are reduced to tallies in spreadsheets, catechism is reduced to high pressure sales tactics, and Christianity itself becomes little more than a glorified MLM scheme.
