LouisvilleFan
While I wouldn't say it's all for senior citizens, a lot of the programming is very cheesy and painful to watch. On the other hand, they do have some great shows such and I really do appreciate that they broadcast papal events.
That's why I listen to the podcast versions instead... there's no way I'd ever watch EWTN on TV
LouisvilleFan
As for the programming appealing only to "senior citizens" and not to "young people", why does it need to appeal to "young people" in the sense that it has to have hip Catholic bands on it to get our attention? If all you do is hold youth to the lowest common denominator, what to you expect to get out of them? I always liked EWTN for the messages. I could care less that Mother usually had carppy music on.
Okay. Then EWTN will continue to be watched only by those who are willing to overlook its cheesiness and bad music because they already care that much about the teaching. If popular music and a fast-paced show format are used to attract young Catholics to orthodox teaching who may currently be apathetic in their faith, how is that keeping them at the lowest common denominator? HotRod
I read the book attacking EWTN, i didnt make it all the way through, just reading the main points of each chapter was enough to make me very mad. This guy was upset that the people acceptin communion at the EWTN chapel aren't waiting at the alter rail, and the mass is in English. He also had serious issue with them airing the new luminous mysteries. dont try to be more Catholic than the Pope. scardella
I love listening to the radio network, but don't think they use the TV medium nearly as well.
