That is just awful, awful awful. It is OBVIOUS that cop is a bad cop---even IF the dog were a menace, THAT is not how justice would be carried out, so time to get the gun out of the psychos possession...
well, they ought to just finish the dog off he's way ugly now.
The dog has no concept of beauty. I doubt he cares. If the animal isn't suffering why put it down?

I don't understand why the owner brought the dog out or showed the cop where he was. My pup would be in hiding if a cop came to kill it.

Well, he's a cop. You would go to jail just to protect your dog? I wouldn't. He's supposed to protect me...

To save dogs?!?

Of all the reasons to own a gun, protecting your pet should be rather low on the list. ;)

On another forum I post at this is what someone who lived around the area had to say:

This incident happened North of me.
The people didn't know the dog WASN'T dead.
They made the mistake of thinking that after it had been shot several times that it had to be dead.
It is in a veterinarians care now

Several witnesses to the shooting also.

The "particular" deputy, in question, has other issues, but also seems to have some kind of "in" with the department.

I think we are going to find out if he is so "bulletproof" now, with the kind of community reaction and news reports that are hitting the Nation.

He is still on duty, in another part of the county.

I have some very descriptive expletives to describe this "fine" example of the Law Enforcement Fraternity.
I won't use them because I know ladies read these posts.
Looks like the cops aren't interested in punishing him. I wondered why he was hadn't been suspended immediately after the allegation. :annoyed: <_<

This incident is a symptom of deeper police corruption, and one of the reasons we have for the second amendment is to protect us from the government if it came to that. Who knows what other abuses the deputy committed that are being covered up by the "code of silence"?

And yes, XIX, when your pets are the only family you have, or you are going to have to deal with traumatized kids, they are worth protecting.
