I remember because I didn't have any memory loss with mine. I guess the Navy didn't drug me up that much.
Now that you mention it, I think it was only a few hours for me as well. But that is only as far as I remember, which is not very much
CrossCuT
Greetings from the other side! Im done! And it was pretty easy! But im in alot of pain right now... its hard to swallow but i took a vicodin about 10 mins ago so I think my time here will be limited. But I want to thank you all for all the advice, I think I ended up psyching myself out and thinking it owuld be worse than it really was. They put a carp load of contraptions on me which was scary, but once they started the IV, I was gone. I woke up with my dad by my side and a little tub of icecream! YAY! isilzha
I had mine done in January. They knocked me out. I took the pain medicine they gave me once, I didn't really need it, I just thought I should take it. And I took Tylenol once, and that was it. I had graduation 3 days later and I was fine. Hope it went well.
jenna311
has anyone said really strange things after coming back after surgery. apparently i told my mom about five times how the lights above me changed colors or something. [I only remember telliner her once....] my friend was telling me about his experience/his friend's experiences---apparently some people come out from anesthesia and start basically spilling their souls to everyone. alicemary
So glad you are done! Hopefully you are feeling much better. As some one advised you earlier, have your Dad give you the vicodan...that stuff is strong and you will not remember when you took it last. As to waking up from anesthesia...you just keep talking. Alot makes no sense. I had some same day surgery a few years back,, and my boss came and brought me home. Well, I have no idea what I told him, but he and another friend swear I spilled my guts and told them all kinds of things. So if you are going under....bring someone you trust in case you start talking!! My boss is still blackmailing me.
missionseeker
I had mine out two summers ago. I got dry socket and pretty much couldn't eat for a month. It sucked. Plus, I'm alllergic to codine and other narrcotics, I didn't know it then (probably didn't help, I had to take codine again for bronchitis in Feburaruy and everything was swollen: tongue, cheeks, arms, hands and feet andI had hives and awful sores in my mouth. It all went away with benadryl in about half an hour, but thinking about it now, it probably really didn't help the sockets, although even then I only took two doses even though i didn't know I was allergic, I didn't realize it until later (my mom tells me this, i don't remember it,) but apparently I kept complaining of a huge headache until I stopped taking it)and i just don't like taking drugs...lol) But I wasn't at home, so I probably didn't take care of it like I should have. My jaw still sometimes hurts if I chew too much. Edited November 24, 2007 by missionseeker

CrossCuT
I dont think I said anything weird when coming out of anestesia. But my dad told that I moaned alot though...I dont remember any of that. The first thing I remember happenening when it was all over was the nurse asking my what kind of icecream I wanted. Lol But the vicodin hasnt effected me nearly as bad as peopel have described it. I fully remember everthing such as when and how many I took. However the medication they gave me was a generic brand of vicodin...Laptab I think. It just makes me really drowsy so I sleep well. But I havnt had any major problems yet so I am very grateful! Ash Wednesday
I had all four of mine out, and had to do it as oral surgery and be put under because they were all impacted. I had the full experience, baby. They told me to count to ten and that I would feel a tingle in the back of my throat. I did, and opened my mouth to exclaim that it felt wierd and lost consciousness mid-sentence. The sentance ended with an "aaaagngh." When I woke up I was totally stoned, my face was swollen and I had drool going down my face. They sat me in a wheelchair and I could see my sister in law smiling and probably trying not to laugh. They wheeled me into a room where there were a few beds and other people dumped off to sleep. It reminded me of the cover of the Pink Floyd album, "Momentary Lapse of Reason" -- that room with all those beds. Seeing all these people in the room dumped off and sleeping in those beds was probably one of the funniest things I had ever seen and I wanted to laugh, but given that I couldn't feel my face I couldn't comprehend moving my mouth. So I laughed in my head.
