Guest Ben
Why do most Churches not use Latin, especially since Vatican II clearly stated several times that Latin was to be used and preserved in the Latin rites, and why is it that Gregorian chant has been largely displaced, even though Vatican II said it was to retain a primacy in worship? Pontifex
It is a very good question, one that I scratch my head about over and over again as a young priest. Many people have made changes in the Church in the name of Vatican II, but really have never taken the time to read a Vatican II document. Let us pray for renewal and for a deeper understanding of where the Holy Spirit is leading us in worship and praise. The venacular was made an option, not the only language that is to be used, and yet when I use Latin, people will say, "That's pre-vatican." What does that mean? I feel your pain. Fr.
