I figure it's the best way to go.
alicemary
While you are at goodwill, pick up a sheet or bedspread. The cost of a slipcover can run you $100 or more. Dont you have any friends or relatives who are looking to get rid of some old furniture. I just bought a mattress and paid $1000. They threw in the bed frame for free. Lucky me

Lucky me
Yeah, I got a dining room table and a bed frame from my parents...and my fiancee has a bunch of stuff at her house...all I really need now is a couch and mattress (with foundation). Not sure how a sheet or bedspread would help with the slipcover thing...I need something that will be able to take on the shape of the couch. Not too bad: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5995127
MIKolbe
iono if they do this in the bayou... but when home builders sell their model home, they sometime sell the furniture they used to decorate the model home to a factory outlet type of place. Prices are drastically reduced. maybe you can look into that where you are??? we almost got a sectional at one of those... here is an example... prose
do they have american kijiji?? I am not sure. If do try http://www.kijiji.com They have everything there (I just looked, it seems as though they DO have an american site.) I seriously have used kijiji for everything from giving away guinea pigs to couches, and someone even donated a couch to our youth group through there. It is a great resource. Andrea348
just a warning....while some mattresses may be cheap, they could do a number on your back and cost you more in lost sleep and dr. bills. i'm not saying you have to spend 1000 dollars, but the cheapest one you can find might not be the best either.
