Lil Red
i'm typing out the hours for NCYC participants (we're going to pray the hours while we're away) and i have a question about Friday, Nov. 9th. For the antiphon for the morning prayer canticle of zechariah, it says to use "antiphon as in the Proper of Seasons." i don't know where that's at. and same with the ending prayer, is says "Prayer, as in the Proper of Seasons". help? i'm using the "Christian Prayer"

Lil Red
because friday the 9th is the dedication of st. john lateran, they are having me use the morning prayer for sunday.
missionarybelle
I use Christian prayer but from what i see, there is an antiphon for morning pryer and a closing. If you pray the office with the saint of the day, on pg. 1312, it says that the day is in honor of the dedication of the lateran basilica and it says to use the common of the dedication of a church. (pg 1360) and in that case they have the antiphons as well. sorry I couldn't really help. I probably have my weeks mixed up (I often do). that is for the 31st week in ordinary time or the 3rd week right? btw the Proper of Seasons is in the front. You use it for your sundays and lent/advent etc. you can see it on the contents list on page 5. Edited October 31, 2007 by missionarybelle
missionarybelle
the 31st Sunday is on page 636 in the proper. (all my page numbers are from the softcover Christian prayer that I use)
aalpha1989
kk that makes sense... i was looking at the wrong day when i asked which common you were using. you will want to use one of the prayers on page 1362. Because that day is the dedication of St. John Lateran, you use the common of the dedication of a church (which does use the psalms from sunday, week one). however, the antiphons, readings, responsory, intercessions, and closing prayer are all on pages 1360-1362 for morning prayer. evening prayer follows with its own psalms. page 1312 has information about that specific feast and leads you to page 1360. all those page numbers are my edition which is the most common edition. basically, you look at the proper of saints for that day (nov. 9), and that should lead you to which common you are going to use (the common of the dedication of a church). when i asked which common you were using i was looking at the wrong day. do you have the hard cover or the leather-bound?
